Gravity Water Filters - Model SM4U
These gravity filters utilize Envirogard’s unique ceramic filtration technology to trap pathogenic bacteria (e.g. E. coli) and protozoan cysts (e.g. Cryptosporidium & Giardia) in addition to reducing sediment and suspended matter down to 0.3 micron absolute (1 micron = 1/1000 mm). The gravity filter system has two stainless steel containers, one on top of the other. Four ceramic cartridges are housed in the top container which is filled with untreated water. Water slowly passes through the ceramic cartridges where bacteria, cyst and other microbes are retained and killed. Safe water collects in the bottom container under gravity at a rate of up to 2.6 litres per hour. These systems have the following features and benefits A) HIGH PERFORMANCE FILTRATION
 - Envirogard's gravity filter systems are tested and certified by CSA International to NSF53 for reduction of protozoan cyst (such as cryptosporidium & Giardia).
- They have also been independently tested for the removal of E.coli, Salmonella typhimurium (typhoid), Vibrio Cholera,Shigella dysenterie (dysentery) and many other microbes
B) EASE OF USE
- Envirogard's gravity filters are extremely easy to assemble and use. Pictorial and easy to understand instructions are included so that anyone can assemble the unit in the field.
- To use, water simply needs to be poured in the top container and after a few hours clean water can be collected from the bottom container
C) CHEMICAL-FREE
- No chemicals are required. So water tastes good at all times
- Some chemicals can react with natural organics in the water creating carcinogenic byproducts. No such potential with Envirogard's gravity filters
D) NO ELECTRICITY REQUIRED
- No dependence on electricity means safe water anytime anywhere
E) CLEANABLE, RE-USABLE FILTER CARTRIDGE
- A unique benefit of Envirogard's gravity filter systems is that the ceramic cartridges are cleanable. When sediment and dirt plugs the exterior surface of the ceramic cartridges, they can be simply scrubbed and cleaned using a scrub pad included with the unit.

F) COMPACT AND EASY TO TRANSPORT
- Compact dimensions & light weight of the gravity systems make them easily transportable at low cost to disaster areas.
The gravity filter system is also available in a 2-cartridge configuration (model SM2U). While the quality of water is the same, the flow rate is lower at 1.4 litres per hour.
