Life on Earth exists because of water.

  • Water is the only substance found on earth in three forms solid, liquid, and gas
  • A person can live more than a month without food, but only about a week, depending on conditions, without water
  • 66% of the human body is water; 75% of the human brain is water
  • A person must consume 2.5 quarts of water per day from all sources (drinking, eating) to maintain health
  • Water regulates the temperature of the human body, aids digestion by carrying nutrients and oxygen to cells, cushions joints, protects organs and tissues, and cleanses the body by removing wastes, making the skin glow and look youthful

The human body constantly excretes water through sweat, urine & breath and therefore, requires constant replenishment of good clean water. Thirst, dry mouth or lips are the first indication of the body’s need for water. Drinking caffeinated, carbonated drinks or alcohol when thirsty can increase chances of dehydration, as they are all mild diuretics.

It is best to drink good, clean and safe water regularly to prevent the onset of dehydration, particularly during physical activity or high heat.
